Building Staff Support for the Business Plan

Pacific Bell, San Ramon, California -- As California's largest telecommunication service provider, Pacific Bell must work hard to increase its market share in a highly competitive marketplace.

Leaders of its Information Services Division had identified a need for a planning session at which Division staff could review the 1999 PBIS Business Plan, take ownership of it, and develop steps that would assure its successful implementation. PBIS leadership was also eager to have its team develop an organizational theme and logo for the year.

Working closely with senior management of the Division, Community Matters developed and delivered an engaging and effective one day experience to meet those needs. Working in small teams participants reviewed the plan, identified challenges and discussed opportunities for building new business. Through a series of creative problem solving exercises the group achieved the second goal and developed the theme of "Simply the Best."
